Terms & Conditions
Last Updated: August 3, 2026
These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the website and services of Horse Transportation Specialists ("HTS," "we," "us," or "our"). By accessing our website, requesting a quote, booking a service, or purchasing any product from us, you ("you," "your," or "Client") agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.
1. Our Role as a Broker
Horse Transportation Specialists is a horse transportation broker. We arrange and coordinate the transport of horses by connecting clients with independent, licensed, and insured third-party transportation companies ("Carriers"). We do not own or operate any trucks, trailers, or equipment, and we do not transport horses ourselves. The Client — not HTS — hires and contracts with the Carrier. HTS is not a party to the transportation agreement between the Client and the Carrier.
2. Limitation of Liability
HTS is not liable for any loss, damage, delay, cancelled or missed trip, injury, illness, or death of any horse or property, or for any act, omission, negligence, or breach by any Carrier or its personnel. All such risks and responsibilities rest with the Client and the Carrier. To the fullest extent permitted by law, HTS's total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to our services will not exceed the amount of the brokerage fee you actually paid to HTS for the specific booking giving rise to the claim.
3. Disputes with Carriers
Any claim or dispute arising from the transportation — including cancelled or delayed trips, injury, damage, billing, or service quality — must be taken up directly with the hired Carrier. By using HTS, you acknowledge that our role is limited to that of a broker and you release HTS from any and all liability related to the Carrier's performance or conduct.
4. Client Responsibilities
You agree to provide accurate and complete information about your horse(s) and the transport, including pickup and drop-off locations, contacts, dates, health status, temperament, and special needs. You are responsible for ensuring your horse is fit to travel and that all health papers required by law (such as a current Coggins test and health certificate) are valid at the time of transport. You are responsible for having your horse available and ready at the agreed pickup time and for someone being present to receive the horse at drop-off.
5. Quotes, Bookings, and Payment
Quotes are estimates based on the information you provide and may change if that information changes or if Carrier availability or costs change. A booking is confirmed only when we notify you that it is confirmed. Fees for our services are due as stated at the time of booking. Any charges billed directly by a Carrier are governed by your agreement with that Carrier.
6. Cancellations and Refunds
If you need to cancel or reschedule, please contact us as soon as possible. Brokerage fees may be non-refundable once we have begun arranging your transport, and any Carrier cancellation terms are set by the Carrier. We will do our best to communicate any applicable cancellation charges before they apply.
7. Insurance
Carriers are required to carry their own licensing and insurance. Any coverage for your horse during transport is provided by the Carrier, not by HTS. We recommend you confirm coverage details directly with the Carrier and consider additional insurance of your own if desired.
8. Digital Products
Any guides, downloads, videos, or other digital products we sell (including "The Ultimate Guide to Choosing the Right Horse Transportation Company") are provided for general informational purposes only and are not legal, veterinary, or professional advice. Because these products are delivered digitally and immediately, all sales are final unless otherwise stated at the point of purchase.
9. No Guarantee; As-Is
While we work only with Carriers we believe to be legal, licensed, and insured, we do not guarantee the availability, performance, timing, or conduct of any Carrier. Our services and website are provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied.
10. Communications Consent
By providing your phone number or email address, you consent to receive calls, texts, and emails from HTS related to your inquiry, booking, and services. If you opt in to reminders or updates, message and data rates may apply, and you can opt out at any time by replying STOP to texts or using the unsubscribe link in emails.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless HTS and its owner from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of your use of our services, your breach of these Terms, or any dispute between you and a Carrier.
12. Intellectual Property
All content on this website — including text, images, logos, and digital products — is owned by HTS or its licensors and may not be copied, reproduced, or distributed without our written permission.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute relating to these Terms or our services will be handled in the state or federal courts located in California.
14. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes take effect when posted on this page, and your continued use of our services means you accept the updated Terms.
